The thumbnails you submit should contain original artwork that represents the actual game and/or its aesthetic.
Consider thumbnails as your game’s business card. You can use them to convey a good first impression to potential users: Your thumbnails should accurately represent the gameplay. They should show characters in action and/or expressing emotion. Thumbnails should be inviting and encourage users to click through to the game.
Make sure the game genre is clearly conveyed by the thumbnails. For example, a thumbnail for a jigsaw puzzle game might feature puzzle pieces.
The more people click on the images you provide, the greater the likelihood that your game will be successful.
Thumbnail Guidelines
We have compiled a list of guidelines and tips to help you achieve the best result:
- Do not submit a screenshot - take care to craft an inviting image
- Make sure the images are sharp
- Use simple and bold graphics
- Good contrast and colorful graphics catch the eye
- Less is more, don’t try to cram in absolutely everything
- Make your images easy to scale down
- Add a large and readable logo (if applicable)
- The minimum number of thumbnails we require is three (3):
- 512x512
- 512x340
- 512x384
- For enhanced publishing and distribution possibilities, we also encourage the addition of
1280x550 and 1280x720 thumbnails, since these can be used to advertise your game in banners.
